The Inverse Cotangent
Take a look at the graph of the cotangent and try to figure out the inverse.
Yup. You can "cut out" that part from x = 0 to x = pi.
So, what happens as you get infinitely close to zero, of course, from the right, since that is the cutout we chose?
You get an infinitely larger value.
As you get infinitely closer to pi in that same section you cut out, you get infinitely lower values.
Now invert that. As you take infinitely lower values, you get infinitely closer to pi.
As you take infinitely larger values you get infinitely closer to 0.
You have now figured out the inverse tangent:
