Impedance is the proper term defined as the opposition to the flow of alternating current in a circuit.

In a circuit that combines opposing elements the impedance is the total current limiting element in the circuit, denoted and also measured in Ohms.

Impedances in series are calculated the same as resistances in series and impedances in parallel are also calculated the same as resistances in parallel.
